Bond cleaning checklist: getting your bond back
What property managers look for at the final inspection, room by room.
Your bond comes back when the property matches the entry condition report, fair wear and tear excepted. Cleaning is the part you control.
Kitchen
- Oven, cooktop and rangehood filters degreased.
- Cupboards and drawers emptied and wiped inside and out.
- Dishwasher filter cleaned.
Bathrooms and laundry
- Soap scum and mould removed from tiles and grout.
- Exhaust fans dusted, drains cleared.
Living areas and outside
- Walls spot-cleaned, skirting and light switches wiped.
- Windows, tracks and flyscreens cleaned.
- Carpets steam-cleaned if your lease requires it - keep the receipt.
- Patio or balcony swept.
Hiring a bond cleaner
Ask for a bond-back guarantee and what it covers, and whether carpet steam cleaning is included or extra.
